I have finally decided on the project for my collection of Civil War reproduction fabrics (it's only taken me 6 years LOL). It's called Trail Mix and was published in the April 2004 American Patchwork & Quilting. This is what I've accomplished so far. I'm doing each number of blocks at one time (there are 5 different blocks). Then when all the different blocks are done, it should go together pretty easily. At least that's my plan at the moment.... :)
I was inspired by this incredible quilt made by Diane (no blog). This was her project at the Quilt Retreat I went to last summer and she graciously allowed me to show pictures. I can't tell you how beautiful this quilt is. If any of you have ever seen this quilt in person, I think you'll agree - it's spectacular!

I just told someone that the reason I work on so many projects at once is because i want to enjoy the "process". I sure don't want to be bored...and neither do you, apparently! Your latest is going to be fabulous, as usual!
I have loved that quilt ever since I first saw it in the magazine...it will be so much fun to watch yours grow! Have tons of fun!
I am so glad you decided to get started on the Trail Mix! I have had so much fun making it.
I do have a blog... www.dyedquilting.blogspot.com
Come visit me some time.

Well, that's not going to be a finished quilt any time soon is it? There's so much work in it, but it will look lovely in civil war fabrics.
Whow! That.is.incred-ible!!!
ADD? Huh. Now where have I heard that before? :-) Wasn't it you who "diagnosed" me years ago? Ha!
Love your Trail Mix blocks! I tried to talk Diane out of hers, but she wouldn't go for it. Go figure!
Creative minds need to do just that...be creative. I love having multiple projects in the works! I like the civil war fabrics too. I was thinking about using them in a quilt of the symbols of the underground railroad. The quilt Diane made from the retreat is BEAUTIFUL! I wish there were a few more hours in the day!
I keep telling myself the more Q projects I have going, the healthier I'll be. It keeps my mind busy and active. I'm doing daily weight-bearing exercises, putting away one project and pulling out another. Having a lot of WIP keeps me young at heart, and boy is it fun!
Great project, Karen. Trail Mix is another on my bucket list--which seems to be endless.
I love this scrappy idea! I can't bear to throw out the smallest of scraps so this is perfect for me!
