I have busy with many things, some of which were gifts so I haven't been able to share a lot. We visited my parents in High Point, NC last weekend and I gave them their gift.
I saw this quilt on Pinterest several years ago and immediately was smitten. Sometime after that I started following Karen Miller on IG. She lives on Keuka Lake which caught my attention as I'm from Rochester, NY and had a good friend that had a cottage on Keuka Lake and used to go there in High School. Anyway, it turn out she created this pattern for Moda Bake shop. So here it is.
I used McTavishing for the background and hand appliquéd the bird, stems and berries. Such a fun project. There's also a second project in the works, I'll share soon.
Here's the second one, love the gray stems!
Hope everyone is trying to enjoy these last few days before Christmas morning.
Karen

I remember seeing this on Pinterest! Lovely little quilt!
my friend, Pauline, would love this and so do I! she was raised in Africa and she adores the cardinal.
the grey branches are perfect for them.
What a wonderful gift - Merry Christmas!
I loved that red bird project when I first saw it and saved the tutorial! But, sadly, I haven't made it. It's a wonderful gift!
Beautiful quilt, I love Cardinals, both the male and female. I love to hear them sing.
Merry Christmas to you & your family.
My daughter would love to have a cardinal quilt like this. She is a cardinal collector.
You did such a lovely job with this, Karen. I am sure your parents loved it! I'm terribly impressed that you managed McTavishing on it. That's a design I haven't yet mastered, though I've tried it a few times. I'm anxious to return to my sewing room, and get back to some FMQ. Seems that a wall hanging is the best size to feel like you've "done something." :-)
Oh Karen, you realized a beautiful quilt !! Congratulations !
I love it and I'm going to look for it on Moda Bake shop !
I'm late for Christmas but I wish you a lovely end of this year !! :)
