Here's an update on my Jubilee quilt progress. These are the templates that I have drafted so far. Trying to create a quilt just by looking at a picture isn't always the easist thing to do. So far they seem to be working. The "tree" looking one I made to help me position the leaves on the block. It worked like a charm.
Here are some of my berries. You can see the size of them compared to the dime. My DH only had one 1/2" washer so I called my friend's husband to see if he had any. Sure enough, he had a whole bag!!! Don't you ever wonder why guys have such random things in their workshop? I guess the same reason we have the things we do stashed away in our studios **wink**. Anyway, the washers are working perfectly for my little berries.
And here are some of my leaves. They are finishing at 1 3/4" long, I think they'll look perfect. I am still having so much fun!! I've been looking for jobs for the past 2 hours and my hands are worn out from using the computer. Filling out some of these applications borders on being ridiculous!!
But a cup of coffee should do the trick.
Hope you're having a great day,
Karen

The one shape looks sort of like a birthday cake with a candle on top. You have to stretch your imagination a little bit to see that.
Holy cow! You've been busy! That's a lot of berries and leaves all prepped and ready to go! Woohoo!
What a great post. I'm enjoying watching this post, especially since I'm a baby appliquer and still learning various techniques. My eyes are just fascinated!!! I'm sending along blessings on the job front. Every little bit can only help (well blessings and coffee)
Good golly, those berries look small. How exciting to be working on your jubilee quilt. Good luck on the job front.
It's a good thing you have quilting therapy to counteract having to look for a job. It is also keeping you sane while you fill out those applications as well as keeping you busy!
What you're doing looks really familiar, and I'm glad it's YOU doing it and not me! After several years and attempts to make applique quilts, I finally figured out that it was the prep work about applique that I don't like! It was a "duh" moment when I realized that. So, most of my UFO applique projects have been given away. But I still have a couple to finish, including one that only needs two appliqued borders to call it "done." What am I waiting for!? Well, inspiration. So, you just keep doing what you're doing, I'll keep watching, and then maybe I'll drag mine out for a finish. In July? August? Do you do much applique during those months?
I hope the coffee did the trick, helping you deal with applications.
I enjoy seeing the behind-the-scenes process of making our quilts. In this case, seeing your templates--and the washers--is interesting. It's also impressive, knowing that you're working only from pictures.
All this prep means you're ready for the fun part of adding them to your blocks. Gotta love the fun part!
