A Slight Detour

Since I'm out of red thread, and haven't been to the store yet, I switched gears and quilted this sweet baby quilt for a friend's grandson.
I used the motif found in several of the fabrics and just did a freehand overall swirl.
Such a nice change from all the ESS  and custom quilting on Pink Pickles :)
It's amazing how fast this goes, I'm almost done.
I had the perfect variegated thread, yellow, gold and orange.  I love how the colors change as they move over the blocks.
My friend chose a pattern from Kim Brackett's Scrap Basket Surprises - one of the best.
This is made from the line Sunkissed by Sweetwater, such great colors.
It's done and waiting for binding.  Feels so good to have a finish (even if it's not mine) :).
Off to work today, hope it's a great one,
Karen

Your quilting designs are always interesting, and you do your FMQ'ing so easily and beautifully. I like your use of fabric design to guide your quilting design. Smart lady!

Karen, regarding the first comment from the gentleman. I had a similar blog comment this week, and at the bottom was also the phrase "Cardsharing server." I was also asked about my site, what I use, etc. I think it's junk, a spam attack, someone asking for info to get into my blog. It's definitely not a quilter, and I deleted it as soon as I read it.
Don't you just HATE these junkie, tricky messages? And we just want to share our quilting!

Sometimes quilt detours relate to instant gratification...doesn't a quick finish feel good?!

I really like the quilting you did on this, and it must feel wonderful to have a quick finish just to give you a break from the detail work on Pink Pickles.

Love the quilting design and how you choose it from the fabrics, which are gorgeous. I am glad I have some of these in my stash!

Love the quilting on your friend's quilt. Do you use a regular machine, or longarm? I would love to master FMQ, but it may not be in this life! Hope your kids and grands are fine. Johnny has 2 more chemo treatments, he's tired a lot, and has muscle weakness. He is so positive and upbeat, never a complaint. Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving..

This quilting is great! So inspiring. You make me want to machine quilt. Just lovely, Karen.
