In a Pickle

I am making headway in my Pickle Dish project... slowly figuring out what I want to do.  My problem is this, I'm not sure of the sequence of piecing these blocks.  I am still having problems with the outside corner pieces.
The melon piece is going together well, I'm just not sure if I should add the corner piece before I sew the unit to the melon.  I've done it both ways, neither feels terribly right to me.
This is one of the drawbacks to drafting it on EQ7.  I have made the outside corner a little bigger and that helped some.  I'm thinking of making it a little bigger still - there is still a puckering when I try to press the corner out.
I am kind of liking where this is going, but I am really frustrated with the sewing process.  Any suggestions???  Thanks for listening :).

Don't they look wonderful on the wall?! this is going to be stunning. Hope someone can help on the piecing order - have never used that program or made this pattern. It is a fiddly block and am sure the size of the corner square is important.Good luck :)

I love your new project, pickle dish is a favourite of mine. I have a tutorial on the top bar of my blog if you want to go look. You piece the squares on one arc before you join it to the other. Hope it helps, I think it's all in the pinning.

Sure wish I had advice, but I've never done such extensive FPP, nor created from EQ7. You've tackled a big - beautiful - project, and I hope someone can give you some good tips.

I've never actually made this block, but thought I'd stick my two penn'orth in anyway. Looking at it, I'd say that maybe you attach the squares to the ends of one arc first, then join the rest together.

It's really looking great though, don't give up on it.

I too love the pickle dish. I've done exactly one block because I'm a whimp with difficult piecing.
I'll have to look at Janet's tab to see what the secret is.
They look great - the colors are wonderful.

I've always dreamed of making a Pickled Dish and seeing your gorgeous arcs has revived that dream. Great color work; I like how you've mixed in Double Wedding Ring around the edges.

I sure can't be of any help, but I do love the way it is starting to look!

Love how this pickle dish is looking! Good luck getting it all to lay like it's supposed to. I'm anxious to see how it goes for you!

I can't offer any advice, as I've never done a Pickle Dish block but I can applaud your bravery and your color choices. It's going to be gorgeous, Karen. I hope you found good advice on Janet's blog.
